Kasia Wasko's book (printed on the Konica c650 on Kasia's supplied paper) and layered transparent prints (a mix of silk screen and Inkpress Transparency printed on the Epson 9900) on the concept of the curated self.

Rachel Knoll's Analog Service Bureau

Rachel Knoll created an "Analog" Service Bureau for her Installation & Performance class. 

Users sent their files to a special email address and then a series of Analog SB staff produced their images. The first staff member would write a description of the sent image on the back of a piece of paper.

The next staff member would then draw an image based on the initial description and pass it on to a third staff member who would color the image.

The Analog SB was open from Noon-1pm on Wednesday, April 27th.

Ashley Huhe Calendar Book

The semester is almost over and final projects have started rolling in. We recently bound this creative and lovely book by Ashley Huhe for Erik Brandt's Typography: Heirachy and Expression class.

MCAD Art Sale Private Reception Invitation Folder

A couple years ago the Art Sale decided to have a private, exclusive reception for fundraising purposes. The Development Office asked us to help them produce a special invitation to this event. Along with designer/alumn Jonathan Schuster we produced 100 of these little folders, about 3x4".

This is a great example of how a very simple concept and execution can produce a neat and memorable product. Each folder contained four cards - a coupon, directions to the college, a campus map, and a reminder to donate to the scholarship funds. Since we were only making 100 it was possible to assemble them by hand. The parts were all printed and trimmed, and then SB staff folded and glued tabs on the folders using a tiny swatch of mono adhesive on each flap.

Every November is the MCAD Art Sale and we print a TON of signage for the event.

All of this year's signage was printed on our new Epson 9900.

This was the longest single print we've ever done - 23 FEET!

Digital Coloring Tutorial

Anthony "Nedroid" Clark gives a great overview of his digital coloring techniques.

Sonja Rostad's "Personal History vs. World History"

Sonja created a booklet for each year of her life, comparing her personal history to the events of world history.

"This project involves a booklet for every year of my life. I wanted to look at the events that were happening during the year and juxtapose it to events that were happening in my life. As you unfold the booklet completely, there is a Nasdaq chart for the year with the different events plotted in a timeline on the graph, using symbols that I assigned from the previous page. This was meant to show how world events affect the economy, and how these things also impact personal life. All of the symbols used for each year is on the cover. They are then put on the back cover in a circle. Each year's circle gets added to the next years booklet.

The photos used are all from documented non-personal photos like drivers licenses, school ids, and baby pictures. I wanted to make it less personal by using these photos that society expects from us. It also enforces my idea of using these booklets, which are normally something handed out to many people, to showcase my life."
